Soren Daugaard
How did you get into the beer industry? Why does beer matter to you?
I started in the beer industry back in 2006 working for New Belgium Brewing Company. Twenty years later, I'm still here remembering how incredibly lucky I am to be part of such an amazing industry helping to create something fine that enhances people's lives. Throughout my career I've had many opportunities. I started in packaging as a filler operator, worked my way into process improvement, production analytics, and into my current role as the Manufacturing Excellence Site Lead for Fort Collins, Colorado.
Why do you judge at the World Beer Cup? What does judging at the World Beer Cup mean to you?
The World Beer Cup is considered one of the most prestigious competitions in the world and to be able to sit at the table with such an incredibly smart, talented, and diverse group of people is an amazing honor. I have been one of New Belgium's top sensory panelists for over a decade and it's something I am passionate about and love doing. Being able to give back to the industry in this way is something I'm very thankful and fortunate to be able to do!
What else would you like the world to know?
In addition to judging for the World Beer Cup, I also judge for the Great American Beer Festival, the Tasting Alliance, Copa Cerveza, and Craft Beer & Brewing Magazine. I have a passion for all things food and beverage, coffee, wine, cooking, you name it. I'm a husband, a father of two very busy girls and in my free time I play drums in a ska band that I've been a part of for over 25 years!
