How did you get into the beer industry? Why does beer matter to you?
I got into the beer industry because I simply loved drinking beer. I became a brewer in 2005, and after more than 20 years, I still think it’s the most fun job in the world!
Why do you judge at the World Beer Cup? What does judging at the World Beer Cup mean to you?
I first judged at the World Beer Cup in 2012. Before that, I had judging experience in Japan and the Czech Republic, but I wanted to feel the global level of brewing at the world’s biggest competition. I’ve served as a judge three times, and last year I finally won a gold medal at the World Beer Cup—a long-time goal of mine—which motivated me to return as a judge after eight years. The World Beer Cup has always been a lifelong goal for me, and I want brewers around the world to experience that same excitement. That’s why I take judging very seriously.
