How did you get into the beer industry? Why does beer matter to you?
I discovered craft brewing while at college in Santa Rosa, CA. I became immersed in homebrewing and found a job at a local brewery to further my knowledge and educate myself on the intricacies and nuances of beer styles and brewing techniques. Along the way I realized how much I really enjoyed the people that were involved and the continued acquiring of knowledge really fascinated me. Here I am some 30 years later and still approach it in some of same ways as that fresh faced kid.
Why do you judge at the World Beer Cup? What does judging at the World Beer Cup mean to you?
I really enjoy the craft brewing industry and I've been working at acquiring the knowledge and aptitude to perform brewing and sensory at the highest level. Being invited to judge at the World Beer Cup is a proud moment and culmination of all the hard work and dedication that I've put into my craft. I look forward to learning more from my peers and international industry veterans alike.
